Creation
In the beginning God created us in His own image. We were created by Him and for His glory.
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
Genesis 1:1
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
Genesis 1:1
Sin
Despite God' s goodness, man rebelled and sin entered the world resulting in death, a breakdown of the relationship between God and man, and - ultimately - eternal separation from God.
By one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned.
Romans 5:18
By one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned.
Romans 5:18
Grace
Though man caused this separation, it was always God's desire to restore the relationship. God could not ignore sin and man was helpless. In His grace God sent His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ to bear the punishment for man's disobedience on the cross. He died for sinners and rose the third day. God offers repentant sinners victory over death through Jesus Christ.
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 6:23
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 6:23
Repentance
Through faith and repentance we can be eternally saved and spared the judgement we deserve for our sin. We must believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and that his sacrifice is sufficient for our forgiveness and the only way of receiving God's salvation. Repentance is turning away from sin to seek a life that honours God through his power.
If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
Romans 10:9
If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
Romans 10:9
New Life
Through accepting God's free gift of salvation we have new life. Because our salvation is based on the person and work of Christ alone, it cannot be lost. We are made the children of God. We have eternal life, the sure hope of heaven and the Holy Spirit indwelling us for our lives on earth.
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.
2 Corinthians 5:17
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.
